Robert "Bob" Worthman

Robert "Bob" Worthman, 75, of Chariton, passed away May 3, 2020 at the Chariton Nursing and Rehab Center with his wife, Connie, by his side. No services are planned at this time. Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton has been entrusted with Bob's care. Bob was born in Noblesville, Indiana on December 8, 1944 to Wally and Marie Worthman. He grew up in Indiana and after graduation enlisted in the US Navy. He eventually moved to Des Moines where he worked at the Randolph and Kirkwood Hotels before going to the Hamilton Business College where he trained to be a computer draftsman. He worked for Johnson Machine Works in Des Moines and then moved to Chariton. He eventually worked and retired from Stratford Homes in Chariton. Bob and Connie after moving to Chariton enjoyed going on walks on the Cinder Path and Red Haw. He loved the outdoors and fishing and mushroom hunting. They also enjoyed going to flea markets and collecting elephants. Bob was a devout Christian and an active member of the Nazarene Church in Chariton. Bob will be greatly missed by his wife, Connie; children: Michelle Jewel, Abigail Worthman, Fred (Stacie) DeLong, Shelly (John) Reed, and Crystal DeLong; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a sister, Myra Wiggins; and many relatives and friends.
