Richard J. Wanless Richard 'Dick' Wanless, Formerly of San Francisco California, passed away Friday January 25th, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. According to Richards wishes, his body has been cremated and no services will be held at this time. The family will have a celebration of Richard's life at a later date. Richard was born in Springfield, Illinois on April 20, 1923 to Roy and Katherine-Lafauce-Wanless. He attended the Cathedral Boys School and graduated high school there. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Virginia Fitch and Marylyn Kay Handy. He is survived by his loving wife Corrilla 'Lea' of Chariton and a brother Bob Wanless of Springfield, Illinois. Richard was a WWII Army Veteran stationed in Panama during the war. In 1957, while living in California, Richard met Corrilla Leonard from Lacona, Iowa. They were united in marriage on November 5th of that year. They spent most of their 50 married years in the San Francisco area. Richard was a retired merchant seaman and one of his great loves was the Pacific Ocean. Richard will be remembered as a devoted husband and a kind, gentle, generous man. He will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
