Raymond Wadle

Raymond Wadle, 82, of Melcher-Dallas, Iowa passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014 at his home. Raymond was born on May 13, 1931 to Guy & Catherine (Metz) Wadle in Bauer, Iowa. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On June 30, 1956, Raymond was united in marriage to Janice F. Wallace. Raymond was a farmer by heart and did so until his full retirement in 1991. Through the years he was also employed by Pittsburgh Des Moines Steel, Lacona COOP and later at the V.A. Medical Center until retiring in 1975 to the farm. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, held an honorary lifetime membership to the Knights of Columbus - Chariton Chapter, 62 year active membership with the Dallcher Post #632 Legion in Melcher-Dallas. Raymond was a man of many talents. He played the banjo, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, piano and other instruments. He never learned to read music, he played by sound and memory. Raymond played the fiddle at many Blue Grass Festivals and also at the Rosemount and Bauer Picnics. His band was known as the 'String Busters'. Raymond looked forward family meals. His friends and family remember him as being a spectacular cook. He was a little bit ornery at times and loved to tease his kids and grandkids. Everyone in the family had a nickname and it was used frequently. Raymond Wadle was a hard working family man that will be missed by many people. Survivors include, six children: Nancy (Doug) Brown of St. Francis, MN, Frankie Wadle of Nevada, MO, Edward Wadle of Melcher-Dallas, Sandra Goering of Melcher-Dallas, Geralyn (Lance) Brattain of Ft. Wayne, IN, Douglas Wadle of Melcher-Dallas, 18 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, many step-great grandchildren, brother, James (Fran) Wadle of Knoxville and a special friend Naomi Miller of Melcher-Dallas. He was preceded in death by his daughter Threasa Wadle, wife, Janice Wadle and two brothers: Bernard and Frank Wadle. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Steve Ebel officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. A Rosary will be led by Fr. Steve Ebel at 7 PM following the visitation. Memorials may be given to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the Dallcher Legion Post #632 in Melcher-Dallas or Honor Flight Network. Condolences may be shared at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com
