Penney Braaksma

Penney M. Braaksma, 55, of Chariton, passed away at home on May 13, 2020. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m., family will not be present for the visitation due to Covid-19 restrictions only allowing 10 persons at a time. The service will be limited to 150 in attendance; the service will also be on Facebook Live at 11:00 a.m. on the Pierschbacher Funeral Home Facebook page. Memorials may be made to Randy. Penney Michelle Ruth was born March 2, 1965 to Ernie and Janet (Boyce) Ruth. She grew up in Chariton and graduated from Chariton High School in 1983. Penney had worked as a rural mail carrier, also worked at Homestead Assisted Living in Chariton, and was a substitute teacher. She was currently working with Randy in their business, R & P Manufacturing as a manager and bookkeeper essentially doing everything to make the business run seamlessly. Penney married her long time friend, Randy Braaksma in 2004. When thinking of Penney, one of her greatest qualities was her Big Heart. She loved everyone and enjoyed helping people. She was active in her community and enjoyed working with her friends at Cornerstone Church. She loved being outdoors, working in her flower gardens. And she had a great love for all animals and especially enjoyed talking to her chickens. She also enjoyed shopping at Amish stores, and would often say to Randy at the end of the day, "Look what I got!" Penney passed away at home on May 13, 2020. Preceding her in death was her mother, Janet Ruth; son, Nicholas Brady; and brother, Robbie Ruth. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Randy Braaksma; father, Ernie Ruth; daughter, Briauna Moore; grandson, Ezekiel; sister, Kelley Deen; niece and nephew, Ben and Bailey; along with many relatives and friends.
