Moses Piscopo

A Celebration of Moses' Life will be on Thursday, January 12th, at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas at 11:00 a.m. with family receiving friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. A private family burial will follow the service. Memorials may be made in care of the family. Life will never be quite the same without Moses. He was our husband, our father, our grandfather, our friend. He was a man we turned to for guidance, wisdom, and prayer. The only consolation we have is that we know he is home with the Lord. ' And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (Revelation 21:4). Moses James Piscopo, a servant of the Lord was ushered into His presence on January 6th, 2012 at 6.55 P.M. Moses was born on February 16th, 1926 in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, one of the many children born to Louis & Anna Piscopo. At a very early age Moses worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He would tell hundreds of stories of his adventures and how he was a 'firemen' which meant he 'shoveled coal'. He traveled daily from Morrisville, Pa. to New York. Moses had many fond memories of the railroad and enjoyed reminiscing with his son Dan especially about the GGI electric train. His eldest daughter had the privilege of going to Madison Square Garden to hear Billy Graham and of course Moses was so excited because he was going to ride on the newest train at that time. His youngest daughter recalls a train trip to New York to visit the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. Moses served in the United States Navy where he was a gunner on a ship in World War II. Moses graduated from Northeast Bible Institute in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and became an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. He was also affiliated with the Christian Church of North America which is the Italian Branch of the Assemblies of God. Moses pastored the Calvary Full Gospel Church in Morrisville, Pa. for a number of years. He was a 'hands on' pastor always reaching out to his congregation. Many times after preaching a midweek sermon, he would then go to the hospital for visitation. Not only was he there to comfort and pray, he was there to meet any need they might have. When visiting a male parishioner, it was not unusual for Moe to step right in and shave them. Many the times in the middle of the night, the phone would ring with a parishioner gravely ill. Moe would get dressed, drive over to their house and would pray. If someone was stranded, it was Moses who would go and pick them up going as far as California to meet a family's needs. Truly a servant of the Lord. Moses also had a weekly radio program called 'Calvary'. After many years of pastoring in Morrisville, Pa., Moses moved to Pleasantville, Iowa the homestead of his wife, Charlotte (Kline) Piscopo. It was there he fell in love with their farm and never longed to move back to the east coast again. Back home in Pennsylvania Moses worked with his brothers in the automotive field. His expertise was in the area of transmissions. Upon moving to Iowa, Moses was the first mechanic to receive zoning permission so he could build a shop down the hill from his home. Because of his love for God and for people, he never let an opportunity go by to witness for His Savior. Moe never met a stranger. We cannot remember a time when Moe didn't bring God into a conversation. Even in a restaurant, when the waitresses would come to the table, the first thing Moe would ask them, 'if they died today would they know where they were going.'? It was at those times being prompted by the Holy Spirit people would ask Moses to pray for them. He was not ashamed to spread the good news of salvation, anywhere, anytime, anyplace. Moses was diagnosed with bladder cancer in August, but had suffered for the past 2 years with numerous medical challenges. Throughout all the pain, 'Moe' still always managed to greet people with his million dollar smile. Preceded in death by his parents, Louis & Anna Piscopo, his brothers Joseph, Louis, Nicholas, Dave and sisters Anna Petrocarlo (Pep), Katherine Gibilisco (Sam), Marie Mendetto (Tom) Susie DiGeorgio (Joe) Lucy Szemen (Steve) . Moses was also preceded in death by his first born son, Walter Henry Piscopo whom was called 'Terry'. He will be missed by his wife, Charlotte; brother, James Piscopo (Phylis) who resides in Pennsylvania;and children are Kathy (Bob) Reiss, Renee' Carver, Jeff Quattrocchi and Daniel (Jill) Piscopo. Grandchildren are Terrance & Theresa Piscopo, Stephanie (Patrick) Miller, Ron (Jennifer) Porter, David & Ryan Earls and the newest addition Gavyn Piscopo whom lit up his 'Paw Paw's life. Moses was thrilled to hear that Gavyn was going to have a brother due in April.
