Services for Millie Irving, 94, will be Friday, February 14, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. A luncheon will be served following the service. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials will be used to purchase trees to be planted around the community. Mildred Irene Beever was born August 8, 1925 to Dow and Ida Beever in What Cheer, Iowa. Millie was one of six children born to the couple. She was raised alongside her sisters in What Cheer and graduated from What Cheer High School in 1942. Millie was united in marriage to Barton Irving on February 16, 1944. The couple was blessed with three children: Roger "Buck", Diana, and Rodney. The family lived for a time near Melcher-Dallas and Millie was baptized at the Dallas Center Methodist Church in 1946. The family moved to Chariton in 1953. Millie was always very active in the Chariton community. She was a member of the Sunshine Workers Club, the Business and Professional Women, Rebekah's, RSVP, and she was a 4-H leader for several years. Millie always kept busy and never sat still. She was full of life and made everyone feel like family; helping anyone that she could. Millie worked for years as a Customer Representative for Stanley Home Products. She enjoyed the work and loved that it give her the opportunity to get to know people. Outside of work, Millie like to go bowling. She was also a great cook and spent countless hours in the kitchen making meals and treats for her family and friends. Above all else, Millie enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Millie passed away February 8, 2020 at Legacy Lodge Hospice. She is survived by her children: Roger (Diane) Irving, Diana Irving, and Rodney (Kim) Irving; eight grandchildren: Tina (Jamie Watt) Achebe, Brad (Jenny) Irving, Tim (Crissy) Irving, Will (Judy) Hannah, Cecily (Todd) Hart, Brandi (Allen Crawford) Irving, Alex (Robin) Irving, and Chelsea Irving; 23 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Dow and Ida Schlaser Beever; husband, Barton Irving; and siblings: Cora Blaylock, Hazel Courtney, Mabel Clucas, Blanche Telein, and an infant brother.
