Mary Lynn Fortune, 55 of Knoxville, passed away on November 8, 2017. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Knoxville. Memorials may be made in care of Mary's Family. Mary Lynn Allison was born May 17, 1962 to Stephen and Beverly Fidler Allison in Des Moines, Iowa. Mary was raised alongside her brothers, Stephen and David, in Des Moines. She was a tomboy growing up and was very athletic. Mary played soccer, raced canoes, and earned her black belt in Karate. She attended Saydel schools and graduated from Woodward-Granger High School in 1980. On June 6, 1981, Mary was united in marriage to Mitchell Fortune. They were blessed with two children, Allison and Matthew. Mary worked various retail jobs throughout the years to help support her family. She decorated cakes at Hy-Vee for thirty years, was the electronics manager for a time at Walmart, and helped her family at the Rib Shack in Knoxville. Mary loved nature and everything in it, especially dogs and cats. She was a talented artist and musician, and sang in St. Anthony's choir. She was also a big fan of the band Home Free and a member of their fan club, the Home Fries. She loved people and considered everyone that she loved to be family. Mary was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed by so many. Mary is survived by her husband, Mitchell Fortune; her mother, Beverly Allison; her children, Allison Fortune and Matthew Fortune; grandchildren, Mitchell Schmitz and Miracle Schmitz; brothers, Stephen (Joni Bell) Allison and David (Misty) Allison; along with many relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her father, Stephen Allison, and father-in-law, Jack Fortune. Visitation
