Mary Elizabeth Bauer

Services for Mary Bauer, 87, will be Monday, September 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. Burial will be at the Bauer Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the church. A rosary service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Memorials are requested to the Melcher-Dallas Rescue Unit. Mary Elizabeth (Konrad) Bauer was born November 11, 1924 to Simeon and Barbara (Putz) Konrad in rural Lacona. She graduated from Lacona High School in 1943. On October 22, 1946 she married Cornelius 'Cob' Bauer. They were blessed with six children: Barb, Kathy, Den, Dave, Teresa, and Bill. Mary worked at the Lacona Bank and was an associate librarian for Dallas Elementary for many years. Family was very important to Mary; she enjoyed the family reunions at the lake and especially enjoyed time with all her grandchildren. She loved to host the family at holidays and to prepare a meal for all her family. Her homemade bread, noodles and potato salad were especially memorable. She also enjoyed quilting, playing cards, and square dancing. Mary belonged to the garden club for many years. Mary passed away September 13, 2012 at the age of 87 years, at the Legacy Lodge in Chariton after suffering a stroke a week earlier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cob in 1975; son-in-law Lee Quick; and siblings: Herbert Konrad and Dorothy Konrad. She is survived by her children: Barb Quick, Kathy (Ron) Miller, Den (Mary) Bauer, Dave (Kathy) Bauer, Teresa (Rod) Harding; and Bill (Cindy) Bauer; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Ramona Bauer along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
