Mary Clouse

July 11, 1917 — April 24, 2014

Mary F. Clouse was born July 11, 1917 in Millerton, Iowa to Earl and Murle Ryan. To this union two other children were born, two sons, Dean and Charles. Mary went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2014. She grew up in the country near Cambria, Iowa, and attended school at the Cambria Consolidated School, graduating in 1937. After graduation Mary did housekeeping in Chariton. On March 21, 1938 she married Orley Clouse in Princeton, Missouri. They were blessed with one daughter, Joyce Ann on June 29th, 1941. In 1952, Mary began working for various businesses around the area. This included the Chariton Hospital and SCICAP. She was employed until 1976 when ill health forced her to retire. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, watching television and being with her family. In 1978, she and her family wintered in Safford, Arizona and in 1982 they purchased a home there, making annual trips to Iowa each spring. In 1990 Mary and Joyce returned to Iowa and lived at Southgate Apartments. In 1996 they purchased their little white house on 8th Street. Mary was very fortunate to have her friend, Betty Caylor, who took her to her many Doctor appointments. Betty also brought Mary her favorite foods. She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Murle, husband Orley (1988), daughter Joyce Ann (2001) and brother Dean. Mary is survived by her brother Charles Ryan and his family of Amherst, Ohio, her sister-in-law Doris Ryan and her family of Boone, Iowa, her niece Donna George of Chariton, Iowa, plus numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Services for Mary Clouse will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family will receive friends at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2014. Memorials may be made to Animal Rescue League.
