Services for Marvin Hancock, 71, of Williamson will be Monday, September 24, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Interment will be at the Chariton Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday at the funeral home from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made in care of the family. Marvin Basil Hancock was born April 6, 1941 in Gallatin, Missouri to Ora and Ruth (Moss) Hancock. He attended school in Pattonsburg, Missouri. He married Nancy Ball and they were blessed with five children: Sharla, Drucilla, Tallie, Sherry, and Kevin. Marvin was a paratrooper in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a truck driver, had worked for South Central Co-op, and was currently working for New Alliance Farm Service. Family was very important to Marvin. He loved playing with his grandchildren and always worried about his children if they didn't call or stop by. Marvin had a great sense of humor. He was a good carpenter, and was always building something. Marvin enjoyed fishing, golfing, and old cars. Marvin passed away suddenly September 19, 2012 at the age of 71 years. He is survived by his wife Nancy; children: Sharla (Dave) Murdock, Drucilla Hilt, Tallie (Matt Gwinn) Hancock, Sherry Mazzoco, and Kevin (Beth) Hancock; grandchildren: David Murdock, Curtis Murdock, Jacob Murdock, Nicole (Chris) Meyer, Brieanna Hancock, Ashley Hilt, Jessica Hilt, Christopher Hilt, Justin Gwinn, Cole Gwinn, Lucas Gwinn, Kaitlin Gwinn, Caleb Gwinn, Sierra Decker, Cristal Bruene, Sherina Mazzoco, and Bradley Noble; and great grandchildren: Joslyn, Jayden, Piper, Ryan, Saje, Glen, Rose, Deakin, Andrew, and Makenzie. Also surviving are siblings: Mildred Huff, Mary Frazier, Margaret Sanders, Mabel Montgomery, and Hershel Hancock. Preceding Marvin in death are his parents: Ora and Ruth; grandson, Michael Noble; siblings: May Sims, Roy Hancock, Marion Hancock, Herman Hancock, Everett Hancock, Elbert Hancock, and Elton Hancock; and father-in-law, James Ball.
