Marvin G. Downing

Marvin G. Downing, 70, of rural Chariton, IA, passed away at his home on Friday, January 16, 2015. Marvin was born in Fonda, IA, to John and Irene (Wolter) Downing. He spent his early years in Fonda, Woodward, and Sioux City, later settling in Chariton. Marvin enjoyed being outside and tending his animals. He is survived by his daughter, Jessica; sisters, JoAnn (Russell) Root of Burnside, IA, Roselyn Balcom of Riverside, CA, and Doris Spooner of Storm Lake, IA, and brother, Robert Schossow of Rodney, IA, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. In accordance with his wishes, Marvin has been cremated and will be interred with his parents in the spring.
