Marietta was born January 5, 1933 to Ed and Isabel (Coffey) Kirchner on a farm near Humeston. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 10 in 1943. She attended Lucerne Country School until moving to Cambria where she graduated from Cambria High School in 1950. Marietta worked for the Humeston Telephone Office until she was married on January 5, 1952 to Curtis Tuttle. They were blessed with two children: Kathy and Steve. She kept a large garden and worked on the farm while raising her children. She taught them to work, cherish family, and love Jesus. Marietta enjoyed her neighbors and belonging to the ladies' club, "Wild Rose Club". She always had a servant's heart, always wanting to serve others. She was very active at the First Baptist Church; Sunday School, Bible School, and volunteering where needed. Marietta loved raising her children and was always glad to attend their events and shuttling them around. After selling the farm in 1979, Marietta and Curtis moved to Canistoa, South Dakota where she owned and managed the Star Light Motel until returning to Chariton in 2006. Marietta passed away on September 11th at the Legacy Lodge at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Tuttle; daughter, Kathy (Raymond) Smith; and sisters: Janice Relph and Margaret (Jim) Kridelbaugh. Surviving are her son, Steve (Cheryl) Tuttle; granddaughters: Heather (Mike) Nehre and Sarah (Dan) Cooper; great grandchildren: Andrew, Matthew, Lily, Jack, and Sam; brother-in-law, Warren Relph; cousin, Gretchen Fousek; and many relatives and friends.
