Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Madonna's honor to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Per Iowa corona virus guidelines, facemasks are required. You may join Madonna's family remotely by viewing the service at Madonna approached everything she did with passion. She spent countless hours volunteering for her community by helping with fundraisers to benefit her church, Altar and Rosary, and the church choir. When entering the church, we will be reminded of her work with the building committee and remodeling projects, especially this time of year with all the Christmas decorations. She also worked hard for the number of local organizations that were benefiting her community. The integrity, knowledge, and passion for a job well done would always guarantee a successful outcome in any endeavor she led to completion. Madonna had the character of a strong yet caring woman. She had the ability to lead and be assertive, but you also knew her heart was large and giving. Madonna cared for others deeply and loved to share with others. Of course it is known that Madonna was a hair stylist for over 50 years, yet she was so much more than a stylist to her clients and friends. She cherished the time spent and friendships made over the years, often bringing supplies, groceries, and treats to her older clients, or just checking on them if she hadn't heard from them. Madonna would also bring chex-mix or black raspberry pies to clients made with the raspberries she would spend 6-8 hours a day picking in all the local spots. Madonna had a nurturing spirit. She loved to take care of others. When the kids were young, she was able to be flexible and stay at home to raise the kids by having her salon in the house, and with John's parents next door there was always a welcomed hand to help if needed. But Madonna was able to be at every event and ballgame, bringing with her needed supplies such as tents, blankets, chairs, snacks, and first-aid. She was a youth group leader at the church and took her kids skiing many times, and even made sure they were able to see Pope John Paul II on his visit to Colorado for World Youth Day 1993. A fun story for Aaron Wadle: when he was working on the sidelines at the Iowa vs Iowa State game, she convinced security that she needed to get on the sidelines to give him a sandwich and some money, all while he was doing his job following the coaches and making sure their communication equipment was working. Only Madonna! John Milburn met Madonna in Dallas at a teen dance when she was a freshman and he a sophomore. People today would not believe this could be their first meeting, but when they were growing up if you were from Dallas you didn't need to go to Melcher to meet friends. But they dated through high school and when Madonna finished school at the Americana School of Beauty and had worked a year in Indianola the couple were married on August 29, 1970. They made their first home in Oskaloosa while John finished school. They moved back to Melcher-Dallas in 1972 and built their current home in 1976. Madonna was born August 24, 1951 in Des Moines to Claude and Betty McLeod Wadle, one of six children. Her father passed away and she was fortunate to welcome Wayne Nolte as her stepfather. But growing up life was tough and she vowed to make sure she gave her family all the opportunities and security that she could. John and Michelle benefited from her strong character, assertiveness, and many life lessons that she was able to instill in their lives. On December 23, 2020, Madonna passed away suddenly in her sleep, shocking her family and those who knew and loved her. Her smile, love, and good deeds will be greatly missed by all. There will be a void in the church and community, but her presence will always be felt, as she left her mark here through all the good she did for others. Madonna will be greatly missed by her husband, John Milburn; children: John (LaShana) Milburn and Michelle (Brandi Miller) Milburn; grandchildren: Zach (Kortney) Moore, Elizabeth, and Johnny III; a great granddaughter, Everly; along with siblings: Pam (Frank) Cacciatore and Laura (Chris) Conrad; sisters-in-law: Emma Wadle and Linda Wadle; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents: Claude Wadle, Betty Wadle Nolte, and Wayne Nolte; and brothers: Monte, Gary, and Jim. Cemetery Details Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery G76
