Madonna McLeod

June 3, 1919 — November 16, 2011

Memorials to the Dallas Christian Church Madonna June McLeod, age 92, passed away on November 16, 2011 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital. She was born June 3, 1919 on the family farm in Marion County east of Dallas, Iowa to Ernest Floyd and Bertha Blanche (Brown) Wood. Madonna graduated from Dallas Consolidated High School in 1937. Madonna married Robert Alfred McLeod on September 3, 1943 and together they had one son Ronald Scott McLeod. They lived in California for a few years, eventually returning to live at the farm. Madonna lived on the farm where she was born for most of her life. She loved the farm and was a farm wife, homemaker, and mother, working very hard all her life. In 2002 she was proud to receive the Century Farm Award at the Iowa State Fair. Madonna loved people and her community. In 2002 she planned a community wide picnic at the community center in Melcher-Dallas just to bring everyone together. It was a big success. Madonna was a faithful member of the Dallas Christian Church. Even after moving to Knoxville in 2004, she drove to Dallas every Sunday to go to church. She enjoyed Park Lane Village and the residents, helping others often. She went to every activity, spending quite a bit of time in the activity room, enjoying each day with a smile. She especially enjoyed the crafts. When you went to visit, you had to time your trip according to the activities, because she might be headed out or already in the activity room. Madonna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Alfred McLeod; and brother, Wilbur Wilson Wood. She is survived by her son, Ronald (Judy) McLeod; grandchildren: Warren (Virginia) McLeod, Elizabeth Canales, Ronald McLeod, and Sonya Delatorre; many great grandchildren; niece, Beverly Jones; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Services for Madonna will be Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dallas Christian Church. Burial will follow at the Dallas Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas.
