Services for Lucille Conrad, 91, will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. Family will receive friends at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas on Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Memorials are requested to the Melcher-Dallas Rescue Unit. Lucille was born August 23, 1922 in Knoxville, Iowa to Raymond and Mary Ravera. She was the fifth of six siblings. She grew up in the Pershing area and attended Albia High School where she played basketball and graduated in 1940. After graduation she traveled to California where she worked and stayed with her brothers. She returned to Iowa and married Raymond Conrad on November 13, 1948. They made their home in Melcher-Dallas and were blessed with two children: Patrick and Nikki. She worked as a cook at the Melcher High School, worked at the drugstore, and Lucille and Raymond owned Ray's Tavern in Melcher. Lucille loved to socialize and be around people. She had a great sense of humor and a zest for life. She was very receptive and open minded to differences and new ideas. She loved to go dancing at the country music jams, loved to read and put together puzzles. Lucille also enjoyed to go gambling. She was a caregiver to her mother and siblings and was especially saddened when her youngest brother Corky passed away in 2012. Lucille passed away June 10, 2014 at the age of 91 years. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Raymond, and her siblings: Max Ravera, Anne Zamberletti, Ted 'Stoney' Ravera, Frances O'Reilly, and Armond 'Corky' Ravera. Surviving are her children: Pat Conrad of Eugene, OR and his sons: Brad and Brian; and Nikki DeGeest of Norwalk and her sons: Brad and Brian and two great grandchildren: Katie and Kamie. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
