Lowell Boles, 80, of Melcher-Dallas, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Good Samaritan Center in Indianola, Iowa. Lowell was born in Melcher, Iowa, on November 27, 1933, to Willard and Flossie (West) Boles. He received his education from Dallas High School, graduating in 1952. On December 26, 1955, Lowell was united in marriage to Vera Catherine Ohnemus at Rosemount church near Milo, Iowa. To this union were born four children: Nancy, Sharon, Steven, and Judy. Lowell was employed as a line worker at Maytag for 30.2 years. He was a proud member of U.A.W. #997 and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher since 1956. Lowell loved the outdoors. He enjoyed working in his garden, tinkering in the garage, and taking Vera to Bluegrass festivals in Newton. Lowell was a proud owner of Model T at one point in his life. In his younger years he loved motorcycles, especially Indian motorcycles. Lowell's greatest contribution is the four children he leaves behind. Lowell will be missed by many friends and family. Survivors include four children: Nancy Gertler (Paul) of Golden, Colorado; Sharon Lyons of Melcher-Dallas; Steven Boles (Terri) of Newbern; Judy Korell (Rob) of St. Joseph, Michigan; five grandchildren: James Lowell Robuck (Aimee) of Golden, Colorado; Alisha Lyons of Omaha, Nebraska; Marissa Boles of Iowa City, Iowa; Dana Korell of Storm Lake, Iowa; and Nathan Korell of Leesburg, Florida; one great grandson, Mason Robuck, of Golden, Colorado; and a sister, Patricia Seuferer (Mervin) of Milo, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife Vera Boles and by eight siblings: Kenneth Boles, Carroll Boles, Naomi Johnson Lopez, Keith Boles, Norman Boles, Marie Boles, Louise Boles, and Norma Greubel. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Melcher, Iowa. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Melcher-Dallas First Responders or Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher.
