Lois Margaret Blake of Ottumwa passed away February 7, 2014 on her 80th birthday, at Good Samaritan Care Center in Ottumwa, with family members at her side. Lois was born on February 7, 1934 in Grant City, Missouri to Luther & Lillie Bernard. She was united in marriage to Marion Blake in Maryville, Missouri on October 17, 1948. Lois dedicated much of her life to caring for others as a nursing assistant. She was an accomplished gardener and seamstress. Lois never knew a stranger, and brought with her many laughs with her quick wit. Lois is survived by her five children: Jewel Walker of Chariton, IA, Marianne Fritz & (Jim) of Webster City, IA, Larry Blake & (Mary) of Leon, IA, Dianna Blake of Ottumwa, IA, Angela Roberts of Promise City, IA. She was also blessed with nine grandchildren: Tina Hardie, Robert Davis, Candi Davis, Matt Norris, Melissa Vanderderflught, Amanda Smith, Kimberly Hofmann, Cassady Blake, Jordan Blake. Thirteen great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter. Lois was preceded in death by her husband Marion Blake and her parents. A Celebration of Life Service will take place 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Denver, Missouri. In Lieu of flowers, cards, comments, or contributions may be given to the family members.
