Les Walker

Les Walker, 45, passed away suddenly October 7, 2019. Les didn't want a traditional funeral but a gathering of friends and family to celebrate a life of memories shared. And since a "Fat Man Loves Food", a Pot Luck for Les Walker will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., at the Chariton Christian Union Church in Chariton, Iowa. Friends are also encouraged to ride their motorcycles in honor of Les. Memorial contributions may be made in care of Les's family to help with expenses. Les was born December 28, 1973 in Des Moines, Iowa to Kenneth and Ruby Walker. He grew up between Iowa and Colorado and graduated from Indianola High School in 1992. LeAnn was his soul mate. Les and LeAnn have been together for 21 years and were married on November 18, 2002. Les always told LeAnn to "live for today, and expect the unexpected". They made many memories together and with their children: Hunter, Stephen, Dustie, and Candice. He enjoyed all cars, especially classic cars and motorcycles. Les liked NASCAR, Sprint Cars, and all racing. He and LeAnn participated in many motorcycle rides for the benefit of veterans and children. He loved to cook and gather with friends and family to share a meal or BBQ together. Les was the youngest of 5 siblings. He was the only boy and eleven years younger than his youngest sister. They remember dressing him up and having him play with dolls, but all five of them spoiled him greatly. Les was currently employed by the Chariton Community School District as a substitute bus driver and a mechanic at the bus barn. He loved interacting with the kids on the bus. Many describe him as the kindest man you've ever met. Les will be greatly missed by his wife, LeAnn Walker; sons: Hunter Walker, Stephen Walker, and Dustie Walker; daughter, Candice Walker; mother, Ruby Walker; sisters: Pam (Jim) Buck, Becky (Kevin) Miller, Terri (Guy) Ohnemus, Karen (Randy) Tysdal, and Stacy Spears; close cousin, Vernon (Ilene) Sams, many relatives, and friends. Les was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Walker in 1988. Celebration of Life
