Kenneth Eugene Coulson

November 30, 1944 — January 30, 2021

A private graveside service for immediate family will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021, for Kenneth Coulson.

Kenneth Eugene Coulson (Kenny or Gene) was born in Centerville, Iowa to Jesse Kenneth Coulson and Margret Pauline Swarts Coulson on November 30, 1944. Kenny was the oldest of seven siblings and he had many stories and adventures about growing up in Swan and around Pleasantville.

He was introduced to the love of his life, Noreen "Faye" Richards, on a blind date but was drafted into the Army in 1967 to be deployed in Vietnam. After his deployment, Kenny and Faye were joined in Holy Matrimony on September 15, 1968. Kenny and Faye moved to New Jersey where he was stationed at Fort Dix and returned to Iowa when his term of service was complete in 1969.

Kenny was incredibly proud of his time in the Army and was rarely seen without a cap or pin denoting his service. Kenny worked at a number of companies over the years, AMF and Western United in Des Moines, construction, and finally retiring from Vermeer in 2009. When not working you would find Kenny coaching Little League baseball and soccer, working on his ‘57 Chevy, gardening and working in his yard, collecting Hot Wheels, camping and fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

In the last six years of his life, due to health issues and after Faye had passed, Kenny move in with his son in Texas. Kenny entered into Heaven on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 4:50 PM after a two-week battle with complications due to COVID.

Kenny was preceded in death by his wife Faye, parents Jesse and Margret, and brothers Larry and Darrel. Kenny is survived by brothers David (Debbie) of Runnels, Curtis (Pat) of Jacksonville, NC, Dennis (Lori) of Des Moines, and sisters Diane Dexter (Mike) of Knoxville and Lori Balmer (Curt) of Knoxville; son Jeff (Tara) of Lucas, TX; daughter Jill (Dan) Piscopo of Green Ridge, MO; and grandchildren Grace Coulson, Gavyn and Gage Piscopo.
