Kenneth "Butch" Caylor

December 4, 1943 — January 26, 2021

A celebration of life visitation for Kenneth (Butch) Caylor will be held Sunday, January 31, 2021 from 1:00 until 3:00 pm at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. According to Butch's wish, no service will be held. Memorials will be designated at a later date. Kenneth Eugene (Butch) Caylor, the only child of Kenneth Ward and Georgene (Sams) Caylor, was born December 4, 1943 at Yocom Hospital in Chariton. He passed away at his home on January 26, 2021. Butch grew up in Chariton and graduated from Chariton High School in the class of 1962. On Feb. 18, 1962, he married Margaret Stark and they shared nearly 59 years of marriage. On April 2, 1962, they were blessed with a daughter, Tammy. Butch loved animals and the outdoors. He enjoyed riding horses and owned a horse for most of his life. A few months ago, he remembered over 60 different horses he owned in his lifetime. Life in the country began in 1967 when they bought 56 acres south of Chariton where he continued to reside. Over the years, they grew the farm to 550 acres. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing with his grandchildren. For over 15 years he raised whitetail deer and served on the Board of Directors of the Iowa Whitetail Deer Association for 3 years. He liked to listen to and tell deer stories. While in high school, he worked part time at Montgomery Wards in Chariton, then worked for HyVee for 41 years, driving a truck the last 22 years. He retired in 2003. He played a very active role in the lives of his two grandchildren, Trenton and Tacy, and expanded that special bond to his great grandchildren, who put a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eye. On August 29, 2018, they were saddened with the death of their daughter, Tammy, who died of HLH. He was also preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Donald and Louise Stark; and brothers-in-law, Alan Test and Jerald Fetters. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; grandchildren: Trenton (Emily) Jeanes of Chariton and Tacy (Kole) Vogel of Murray; great grandchildren: Riley Jo Jeanes, Ross Foltz, MaKenna and Kade Vogel plus a great grandson to arrive in March. Also sisters-in-law Ida Fetters of Russell, Evelyn Stark of Lucas and Donna Test of Des Moines, and a special cousin, Karen (Bill) Kauzlarich of Des Moines. His quick wit and loving, caring ways will be missed by many. Celebration of Life
