Kay Seuferer

Kay (Harris) Seuferer, 75, of Chariton, passed away December 28, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center. It was Kay's wishes that there would be no services. Kay was born to Lawrence and Florence (Chelf) Harris on December 12, 1945 in Borger, Texas. She was married to Gerald (Jerry) Seuferer on October 31, 1964 in Golden, Colorado. To this union, they were blessed with two children, Bret and Karelle. Her working career spanned several areas from working at the Hy-Vee Wholesale in the meat department offices, the AEA, Chariton Manor, and the Knoxville VA. In 1988, Kay began a college career at William Penn College earning her Bachelor of Science Degree. She then continued her education at the University of Iowa where she earned a Masters of Science Degree. After college, she worked for Lucas County Health Center and Rathbun Regional Health which she later retired. After retirement, she volunteered at the Lucas County Food Pantry. Kay's career in social work enabled her to have many acquaintances across southern Iowa. She truly loved building relationships and helping her clients. Her interests included genealogy, crafting, holiday decorating, and searching Pinterest for new ideas. Family was important to her. She took numerous vacations with her sister, Emma, and her brother, Ray. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Leo, and was very proud of her granddaughter, Tanna. She is survived by her husband, Jerry; her children: Bret (Deb) Seuferer and Karelle (James) Adams; her granddaughter, Tanna; her grandson, Leo; and her twin brother, Donnie Ray Harris.
