I was given the gift of life, the love of a devoted man, the adventure of raising a daughter into womanhood and the thrill of being a Gigi to the sweetest most loving 7-year-old boy in the world. I was a blessed woman who did what I wanted when I wanted and lived a full life void of regret. When my cancer recurred and my prognosis was terminal I decided to accept it as a challenge. Amazingly, this outlook worked for me (well, you know, most of the time) and I lived my last three years with joy in the presence of my beloved family and friends. My deep belief in Jesus Christ also helped me to accept that which I could not change and to be completely honest I got by with a little help from my best friends. At any rate, I am at peace in the presence of my Lord. I want no rites in a gloom-filled room as my own bad days were few and far between. Instead, bury your sorrows in doing good to others, eating fudgy chocolate brownies and singing the golden oldies with the windows rolled down. Forgive easily, laugh often, love deeply and be a good friend. If given the option, always choose a hug over a handshake. Miss me, but don't lose the beauty of a single sunset. Until we meet again...this is Kay signing off from a job well done.' Kay is survived by her only child, Melissa Ansley Brooks (Justin), and grandson, Sawyer Haynes of Richmond, Virginia; her mother, Phyllis Ebert of Vinton; her only sibling, Kevin (Kathy) Ebert of Cedar Rapids; her loving husband, Mark Davison of Liberty Center; extended family: Brian Davison (Amanda) of Liberty Center, Amber McDonald (Terry) of Indianola, and many bonus children and grandchildren of the Davison, Ansley, Mullen, and James families; best friends: BJ Howard of DeSoto, Lois Dixon and Noelle Burgett of Chariton, and Mary Wilson of Florida, in addition to countless other beloved friends that were family to her as well.
