Judy graduated from Altoona High School in 1964 which was also Southeast Polk first year. After high school she was blessed with daughter Joyce, and son Matt. Judy married John Michener on February 16, 1974 in Bethany, Missouri and resided in Bondurant. In 1985 moved to the farm in Milo which belonged to John's parents. Judy was more than a housewife until the kids were grown, she made sacrifices to keep her family safe and healthy. John passed away in 1995, after which Judy worked at Walmart for 19 years. She was very low key, would tell it like it was, great sense of humor, never used a turn signal because "It's nobody's darn business." Enjoyed her large yard, gardening, very artistic, enjoyed making wreathes, and floral arrangements. They would enjoy going to the races on the weekends with the family. She was a great mother-in-law. She treasured her sisters and their many trips, even though they could get lost anywhere they had a blast. Her real treasure was her children and grandchildren. She loved going to their sports, plays, any activity they participated in. She loved doing something special with each grandchild. She was called "Papa Judy" by Matt's family and "Grandma Judy" by Joyce's family. They all loved Grandma Judy cakes. She had to have her Dt. Dew, and everyone knew that Christmas was her favorite holiday where each child would always get the same number of presents. Judy will be greatly missed by her children: Joyce (Jim) Shaw and Matt (Tanya) Michener; Grandchildren: Elizabeth (Chad) Nold, Jeremy (Tia) Shaw, Abigail (Tyler) Long, Alex (Kasi) Shaw, John Levi (Ginny) Michener, Jaclyn Michener; Great Grandchildren: Colby, Lauren, Madison, Twins due in November, Ella, Emma, Kade, Quentin, Sawyer, Emmit, Evelen; Siblings: Fred (Mary) Hood, Pam (Mike) Brown, Rod (Kelly) Hood; Sisters-in-law: Cookie Hood and Betty Hood; many nieces and nephews.
