John Chidester

Mass of Christian Burial for John Chidester, 74, of Melcher-Dallas will be held Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 11:00 am with family receiving friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com . Memorials may be made in care of the family for a memorial to be named at a later date. John was born January 19, 1940 in Hiteman, Iowa to Roe and Hazel Chidester. He graduated Albia High School in 1958. He was married to Patricia Anderson on August 31, 1963 and they were blessed with a son, Kevin. John worked for R&R Feed & Grain in Albia, Curt's Hardware, ABC Cartage and for Monroe County before working for the Southern Iowa Landfill for 11 1/2 years. He then started his own business C&C Hauling, he ran the garbage route for many years having over 1500 customers in south central Iowa on his routes.He loved being able to visit with all the people in the area and always took candy to the kids on the route. Many children would be excited on garbage day when John rolled in bringing the gifts. John was a true friend to many. John passed away at the Pleasant Care Living Center in Pleasantville, Iowa on September 22, 2014 at the age of 74 years. Preceding him in death were his parents; his step mother Eleanor; his wife, Pat who passed in 2011; siblings: Rita Conley, Mary Chidester, infant sister, Susan Chidester; Bob Conley, Pat Conley III, Tom Chidester, infant brother Frankie Chidester, Jim Chidester, Michael Chidester, and Kenny Chidester. Surviving are his son, Kevin; and many special nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
