Jo Ann Palmer

Jo Ann Palmer, 72, of Lenexa, Kansas passed away on April 3, 2019. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chariton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alanon/Alateen website or by mailing a check to: 1600 Corporate Landing Parkway Virginia Beach, Virginia 23454. Jo Ann Palmer was born on July 15, 1946 in Chariton, Iowa to Leland & Maxine Davis Palmer. She was the youngest of three children. Jo Ann was very close to her brothers and their families and loved spending time with them. Jo Ann graduated from Chariton High School in 1964. She worked in various fields including information technology, telecommunications, counseling and helping children on the school bus. She was proud to own a farm in Iowa with her cousins and enjoyed spending time there as well. Jo Ann had a love for learning and made a decision to go back to college in her sixties. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Saint Mary in May of 2009. Jo Ann was full of life and loved being involved in many activities. She traveled, went on cruises, and had many adventures with her friends and family. Jo Ann enjoyed helping others most of all. With her wisdom and love - she greatly impacted so many, many lives. She always made people a priority and was dearly loved and cherished by her friends and family. It is remarkable how many lives she has changed for the better. Jo Ann wanted everyone to know how much she loved them. She will be greatly missed by all. Joann is survived by her brother, Carl (Kathy) Palmer; sister-in-law, Marita Palmer; and nieces and nephews: Michelle, Becky, Dusty, Ty, Nicole, Joshua, Hezekiah, Brenham, Morghan, Griffin, and Devin.
