Jerry Gene Haselhuhn was born on April 24, 1932 to Fredrick and Luella Haselhuhn at their home in Dallas, Iowa. He graduated from Dallas High School in 1950. Jerry was enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. On July 4, 1956, Jerry was united in marriage to Mary Burt. To this union, four children were born: David, Dennis, Danny, and Gena. Jerry drove a school bus for the Melcher-Dallas school district for forty-one years, safely transporting three generations of kids to school and extracurricular activities. He also worked as a park attendant at Stephens State Forest. His favorite job, however, was farming. Jerry loved farm life and spent countless hours working side by side with his son, Danny, on the land farmed by the Haselhuhn family for over 130 years. Jerry loved to drive and often transported local Amish families. He loved to travel and fondly remembered a train ride that he took with his daughter Gena to California. He was a competitive card player and enjoyed watching westerns, football and basketball games on TV. Jerry liked spending time with friends at the local Senior Center and visiting friends in local nursing homes every Sunday afternoon. Above all, Jerry loved spending time with his family. His ornery smile will be greatly missed. Jerry is survived by his children: Dennis (Diane) Haselhuhn, Danny Haselhuhn and Gena Haselhuhn; 2 grandchildren, Daphne (Luke) Dickens and Dana Haselhuhn; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Haselhuhn, in 2006; son, David Haselhuhn, in 1980; and siblings: Clifford Haselhuhn, Joann Haselhuhn, Betty Caswell, Charlotte Robuck, and Lyle Haselhuhn.
