Jasper Marion Nicholson was born October 30, 1938 in rural Clarke County Iowa to Marvin and Leta (Crooks) Nicholson. He went to Puckerbrush Country School. In 1958 he married Eva Marker and they were blessed with two children: Roxane and Wesley. Marion worked construction and in the steel industry in Des Moines for many years. He built the steel that was used in the Ruan Building and for the first skywalks in Des Moines. He always had a love for the farm and the Pukerbrush Community. He farmed even when he was working in Des Moines and enjoyed helping his neighbors by having a repair shop at his home. Marion could fix anything and really enjoyed tinkering with anything mechanical. He loved to fix things, the older and junkier, the more he enjoyed getting it working. Steam Traction Engines were a special interest as he enjoyed working on them and taking them to shows. Marion never met a stranger and had a great sense of humor. Preceding him in death was his father, Marvin Nicholson. Surviving are his mother, Leta Nicholson; wife of 54 years, Eva; children: Roxane (Bill) Shreck of Marshfield, MO and Wesley Nicholson of Burlington, IA; two granddaughters: Ashley (Kevin) Childress and Jennifer (Joe Phelps) Neer; two great grandchildren: Lili and Lucas Childress; and sisters: Marilyn (Gene) Marsh and Cindy Jo (Monte) Hutchings. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, relatives, and many many friends.
