Jason Andrew Throckmorton was born on October 21, 1967, the youngest of Jerry and Barbara Throckmorton's three children. He attended school at Mormon Trail Community School, graduating with the class of 1986. He was a talented athlete, participating in basketball and football throughout his high school career. Jason was a very hard worker and as strong and stout as they came. After graduating from high school, he worked for several local farmers. He also worked for Premium Standard Farms in Mercer, MO and Iowa Select Farms in Thayer, IA until his health no longer allowed him to continue. During that time, he bonded with the daughter of his girlfriend. He always spoke of Abbie Abel with great affection and remained in touch with her for the remainder of his life. That smile was always in place when he spoke of Abbie. Jason had many friends that he spent time with over the years, and they will miss his sense of fun and desire for adventure, but probably no one more than his friend of many, many years, Ron Hofmann. Ron and his family were all very close friends of Jason. Jason spent many hours at their home and with Jake and Brad. He always said Mickey made the very best pizza! I'm sure Ron has more than a few stories of his own about Jason. Jason was a bit of a free spirit. He lived life on his own terms. He wasn't crazy about having his picture taken or being in large crowds of people, so he managed to avoid being in very many pictures by dropping in early or showing up late to special gatherings. Jason had a big heart and had great affinity for his neighbors. His neighbor, Martha Shanks, has been a very good friend to him and his dad as their health declined. Jason helped her with the farm work after her husband grew ill and passed away and she has checked in on him and driven him to countless doctor appointments. Jason was a very active and mischievous little boy. You might even call him a bit of a daredevil. He had a smile that could light up a room and a sense of humor that kept everyone entertained. If you listen closely, you may hear Jason in the voices of his niece or nephews when they tell you a joke or make you laugh. It is safe to say, his nephews and niece all inherited that sense of humor, and that sense of fun is still there. Family gatherings were never dull. All of his cousins still tell stories of some of the things they did together on both sides of the family. Jason passed away April 14, 2019 at the age of 51. He is survived by his brother, Jeff (Cindy) Throckmorton of Derby; sister, Jennifer (Brian Linebaugh) Sponsler of Derby; niece, Amanda Sponsler; nephews: Joe Throckmorton, Jake Throckmorton, and Ryan Sponsler; 4 great nephews: Jace Throckmorton, Carter Throckmorton, Sirus Throckmorton, and Max Throckmorton; and Abbie Abel; along with many relatives and friends. Jason was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Barbara Throckmorton, and an infant sister. Cemetery Details Humeston Cemetery Humeston, IA 50123
