James Alan Neer Sr.

James "Boz" Alan Neer Sr., 59 of Des Moines lost his courageous battle to cancer on December 22, 2020. Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Milo Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held beginning at 12:00 p.m. prior to service. Memorials may be made to the family. Per Iowa corona virus guidelines, facemasks are required. You may join James family remotely by viewing the service at James Alan Neer Sr. was born on October 30, 1961 to Dean and Carmen (McVey) Neer in Chariton. The family later moved to Lacona. He attended high school at Southeast Warren. He logged with his father for several years. He had many trades but enjoyed welding. He worked for Capital City Boilers before over the road truck driving for Dickey Transport. On August 24, 1985, he married Michelle Sparks and to this union they were blessed with three children: Heather, Ashley, and James Jr. Many would say he was hardheaded and loved to get everyone riled up. However, once he was blessed with grandchildren, he became a big softy. He absolutely loved his family and would do anything for them. He also was always there for someone in need. He was one that was quick to forgive. James enjoyed driving trucks, riding motorcycles, drinking beer and would never turn down a party. He liked to go camping, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and mud bugging. Any activity outdoors seemed to be his liking. James is survived by his wife of 35 years, Michelle; children: Heather (Andy) Crabb, Ashley (Earl) Neer, and James Jr. (Willow) Neer; ten grandchildren: Blake, Alyvia, Max, Carter, Kennedy, Brylyn, Remington, Southern, Wyatt, and Jake; siblings: Marty, Kevin, Gary (Connie), Jason (Amy), Jeremy (Debbie), Carol (Bill) Tompkins; brothers-in-law, Russ (Chris) Sparks & Rick (Nicole) Sparks and mother-in-law Linda; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Dean and Carmen (McVey) Neer. Visitation
