Helen Pearl Greene of Melcher-Dallas, passed away July 17, 2016 at the age of 73. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the Melcher-Dallas Community Center. Memorial contributions may be made to Helen's family to be used to honor her memory at a later date. Helen Pearl Lehigh was born September 7, 1942 to Francis William and Sarah Marie Lehigh in Pleasantville, Iowa. Helen was one of six children born to the couple. Helen graduated from Melcher-Dallas High School. Helen was blessed with two sons, Gregory Dean and Monte. She was also blessed with seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Helen loved spending time with her family. On August 15, 1997, Helen was united in marriage to George Greene in Knoxville, Iowa. The couple loved to travel. They drove anywhere and everywhere together. Helen was a hard worker. She worked throughout her life as a truck driver, an employee for AMF, and an employee for Firestone. Helen retired from Firestone in 2004 after 15 years with the company. In addition to traveling, Helen loved to go fishing. She also enjoyed card games and played Jokers Wild almost every weekend. Helen was a very good cook and was famous for her potato salad. Her family and friends will remember how generous she was and that she always spoke her mind. Helen will be greatly missed by so many. Helen is survived by her husband, George Greene; sons, Gregory Dean Lehigh (Connie) of Chariton and Monte Lehigh of Melcher-Dallas; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Ted Lehigh of Rose Hill; sisters: Elaine Teas of Melcher-Dallas, Rose Talley (Donald) of Altoona, and Diana DeMoss (Chris) of Pella; 4 nieces; and 3 nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah and Frances Lehigh; infant sister; and grandchild, Francis. Visitation
