Helen Marker

Helen was born September 11, 1928 in Lucas County to James Benjamin and Avanelle Snodgrass. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Marker on June 1, 1947; they had 60 wonderful years together. After graduating from Simpson College in 1946, Helen taught school for 9 years. She then went to nursing school in Centerville and was a surgical nurse for many years. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Helen was saved at an early age, and truly lived a Christian life. Although Kenneth and Helen had no children of their own they welcomed Larry Reilly of the Assembly of God Children's Home and raised him as their own son. They were also blessed with a special grandson Brandon. Helen went home to be with her Lord March 26, 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents; baby brother Bobbie; sister Katie Ann; sister-in-law Marilyn Snodgrass. Helen is survived by her husband of 60 years Kenneth Marker; son Larry (Belinda) Reilly; daughter Dawn Fortier; 6 grandchildren; sisters: Maxine (Ralph) Pennington of Magnolia, TX, and Mary (Harold) Culbertson of Indianola; brothers: Jim (Helen) Snodgrass of Mt. Pleasant, Gene (Geri) Snodgrass of Indianola, Don Snodgrass of Carlisle; nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors and friends.
