Guyletha Storm

December 22, 1931 — September 11, 2017

Guyletha Storm, of Chariton, passed away September 11, 2017 at the age of 85. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Interment will be at the Coal Glen Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 13, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Martha Guyletha Raffety was born December 22, 1931 to Guy and Cleo Grimes Raffety on her grandparent's farm in Pleasant Township, Lucas. Guyletha was placed on the cradle roll at Coal Glen Methodist Episcopal Church, which remained her church home all of her life. Guyletha attended Coal Glen Country School and graduated from Chariton High School in the class of 1949. On June 15, 1949, Guyletha was united with Caryl Lowrence Storm in Holy Matrimony and spent 54 years as a devoted and loving wife. To this union three sons were born: Gary Lawrence, Robert Alan, and Bryan James. After their marriage, Guyletha and Caryl traveled around the western part of the United States while Caryl worked on powerline construction. They returned to their farm in Lucas County in 1962. Guyletha helped Caryl farm, especially enjoying working with the cattle and raising chickens. Guyletha loved her garden, spending countless hours raising vegetables, fruits, and flowers. In 1977, Guyletha went to work at the Chariton Manor. She also worked at the VA Hospital where she retired in 1994. After her retirement, Guyletha and Caryl enjoyed playing cards with the group, traveling, and just enjoying family and friends until Caryl's death in 2004. In 2002, Guyletha was diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome, which greatly reduced her mobility. After her loss of mobility, she began quilting to pass the time and produced many fine quilts for members of her family. Guyletha was a lifelong avid reader and enjoyed reading a wide variety of subjects and authors, always trying to read at least a book a day. Guyletha leaves to mourn her passing, three sons: Gary (Deb) Storm of Chariton, Bob (Merrilee) Storm of Lockhart, Texas, and Bryan Storm of Chariton; eleven grandchildren: Sandra Cook, Kathy Malli, Jeremy Storm, Jason Storm, Derek Storm, Nicole Collins, Kurt Rothfus, Bethany Shaffer, Melinda Davis, Angela Forkner, and Adam Forkner; twenty-five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and her special girl, Deby Teegaurden of Addy, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Cleo Grimes Raffety; and her husband, Caryl Lowrence Storm. Cemetery Details Coal Glen Cemetery Visitation
