Frank Gerdom, of Harvey, passed away February 8, 2018 at the age of 65. Services will be held Monday, February 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery near Knoxville. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Franklin Gene Gerdom was born October 29, 1952 to Frank and Darlene Gerdom in Burlington, Iowa. Frank was one of four children, and the only son, born to the couple. He was raised alongside his sisters in Burlington. On May 2, 1969, Frank was united in marriage to Vickie Diane Wagner. The couple was blessed with three children: Kris, Shawn, and Tony. Frank joined the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. After returning home, Frank worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad. His job with the railroad led his family to move to Melcher-Dallas. Frank then took a job with Vermeer. In 1988, Frank graduated with a Tech degree. He worked with electronics at IESS and Temputer. At one time, Frank attended an artist school. He was a talented artist and was very skilled at drawing, especially portraits. Frank was a very proud father and was blessed to become a grandfather and great grandfather. He loved traditional family dinners and looked forward to every family gathering. Frank made the best-scalloped corn and potato salad. Frank is survived by his mom, Darlene Gerdom; children: Kris (Tim) Hughes, Shawn (Kim) Gerdom, and Tony (Leanne) Gerdom; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and siblings: Shirley Cluney, Linda Hausner, and Ruby (John) Hanson.
