Frances Hoffman

Frances Dorothy Hoffman, 89 of Lacona passed away Friday, March 20, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society in Indianola. Frances was born to Frank Douglas & Helena Mary (Schmidt) Jacobs in Lacona on March 12, 1926. She received her education from Lacona High School graduating in 1943. Frances would later further her education at AIB College in Des Moines. On November 19, 1945, Frances was united in marriage to Donald Frank Hoffman. To this union were born three children: Joseph Edward, Brian Douglas, and Brenda Diane. Frances' son Joseph preceded her in death in January, 1956 and her husband Donald Hoffman preceded her in death on September 6, 1985. Frances was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lacona. She was also a member of St. Mary's Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. Frances enjoyed quilting, camping, and sitting on her swing when she was at home, but mostly she enjoyed time with her friends and family. Frances is survived by two children: Brian Douglas (Anna) of Lacona and their children, Erin & Kelly; Brenda Diane Bidne (Keith) and their children Seth & Katlin. Frances is also survived by a sister, Anna Maye Pederson of Ankeny. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, son Joseph, five brothers: Gabriel, Robert, Marvin, James, Jesse, Charles Jacobs, and sister Velda Samuelson. Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lacona with Fr. Dean Nimerichter officiating. Interment will be immediately following at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Monday, March 23, 2015, at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lacona.
