Faye Starckovich

Services for Faye Starckovich, 75, of Melcher-Dallas will be Friday, November 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church in Melcher-Dallas. Family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of Faye's family. Faye Burk was born June 24, 1943 in Hamilton, Iowa to George and Ruth Burk. Faye was a twin and also the youngest of ten children born to the couple. On March 20, 1960, Faye was united in marriage to Lee Starckovich. Faye and Lee were blessed with four children: Tammie, Johnnie, Jerry, and Melissa. They made their home in Melcher-Dallas, Iowa. Faye was a hard worker and helped to support her family by working various jobs over the years. She worked for a time at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital, the Melcher Lumber Yard, The Farmhouse, and she owned the Melcher Flower Shop. Faye also enjoyed volunteering. She loved volunteering at Helping Hands in Indianola. She served on the Melcher-Dallas City Council and even ran for mayor. Faye was very involved in her church and was proud to have helped restore the stained glass windows. Faye had a lot of hobbies, including: reading, putting together puzzles, gardening, and traveling. She especially enjoyed her trips to Italy and Mexico. Faye's family will tell you that before there was Pinterest, there was Faye. She was so creative. She was also unstoppable, stubborn, ornery, and had endless amounts of energy. Above all, Faye enjoyed spending time with her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her world. She will be greatly missed by so many. Faye passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; son, Jerry; daughter-in-law, Tina; parents: George and Ruth Burk; and siblings: Albert Burk, Thelma Pettyjohn, Bill Burk, Estella Davis, Carl Burk, and Mary Smith. She will be greatly missed by her children: Tammie (Daryl) Cockriel of Kansas City, Johnnie (Karla) Starckovich of Parnell, Iowa, and Melissa (Antonio) Rivera of Kansas City; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Marion Burk; twin sister, Kaye Langebartels; sister, Frances Machlan; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
