Graveside Services Friday, May 4, 2012 10:00 a.m. Fry Hill Cemetery Lucas, Iowa Family will receive friends, Thursday, May 3, 2012 From 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Memorials National Fibromyalgia Association Everett was born March 12, 1921 in Truro, Iowa to Jesse and Elsie Goodrich. He graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1939. Everett was an Army Veteran of World War II serving from 1942 through 1945. He served in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He served during the Battle of the Bulge. Everett married Harriett Leonard in 1951 and was blessed with a daughter, Susie. Harriett passed away in 1963. He married Mary Margaret Kinsey in 1963 and welcomed her children: Mary Sue and Harley. Mary Margaret passed away in 1985. Everett worked on oilrigs off the coast of Louisiana for several years, and then worked in Des Moines for 17 years for Pittsburgh Steel, American Plating, and United Plating. He also farmed in Lucas County for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors going hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing. He never missed church and belonged to the Lucas Presbyterian Church and served his church as a deacon and helped with youth group hayrides. Everett passed away at the age of 91 at the Lucas County Health Center in Chariton. He was preceded in death by his wives: Harriett and Mary Margaret; grandchildren: Gerald Edgerton and Christi Martin; and his 8 siblings: Vern, Inez Clarke, Carl, Ross, Paul, Hazel Leonard, Annabelle Ross, and Margaret Leonard. He is survived by his children: Susie Martin of Nashville, TN, Mary Sue Hummell and Harley Edgerton both of Lake of the Ozarks, MO; 5 grandchildren: Dan Martin, Scott Hummell, Lia Hummell, Kurt Hummell, and Kim Edgerton Gudde; and 2 great grandchildren: Ashley Hummell and Tiffany Gudde. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Everett passed away May 1, 2012 at the Lucas County Health Center. He is survived by his children: Susie Goodrich Martin of Nashville, TN; Mary Sue Hummell and Harley Edgerton both of Lake of the Ozarks, MO; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
