Evalee, Gerald and Betty Greene were raised by grandparents Charley & Lula Dunshee, north of Chariton. Her life-long best friend was her Aunt, Esther Belle Karn (1911-2004). Evalee graduated from Chariton High School 1942 and Simpson College 1964. She taught eight years in rural schools of English Twp. On July 19, 1947, Evalee was married to Jesse Hunerdosse, a farmer in Marion County. The couple was married for 50 years. She resumed teaching in the Chariton School, Williamson Building (1964-1980) and then substituted at Melcher-Dallas. Evalee moved to Newton in 1999 accompanied by her son, Jack. Evalee stepped up to the challenge of leaving the farm and tight community that had been her home for 75 years. She was active in her new community and kept in touch with family and friends back home on the farm. She was a member of the Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton. She enjoyed activities at church, quilting, sewing, gardening, genealogy, oil painting, making jewelry, writing poetry and short stories. Evalee also got a computer and learned to operate it. Without missing a step, she made many new friends. She enjoyed having her children close to her, and the country mouse became a city mouse. Evalee passed away May 7, 2019 at the age of 94.
