Edward Langebartels

Edward Langebartels, 88, of Melcher passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Knoxville Hospital & Clinic. Edward was born to Edward & Nannie (Fight) Langebartels in Lacona on July 20, 1925. He married Joanna Geneva Umble at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lacona on March 7, 1948. Edward was a farmer at heart and loved working off the land. He enjoyed gardening and traveling, especially the train trips he took with his kids. Edward's grandchildren were always a big part of his life. He enjoyed spending time with them at the farm. In his later years, Edward relocated to the Memory Center in Knoxville. His enjoyment of playing cards earned him the name 'Fast Eddie'. Edward was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother who will be dearly missed. Survivors include, four children: Linda (Ken) Haselhuhn of Knoxville, Gary (RaeLynn) Langebartels of Otley, IA, Kathy (Lary) Willoughby of Lacona, Bill (Helen) Langebartels of Des Moines, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, two sisters: Bertha (Guy) Hartz and Iola (Richard) Becker both of Indianola. His wife Geneva Langebartels on July 25, 1994, infant son, James Edward Langebartels, three siblings, preceded him: Raymond Langebartels, Fern Nolte and Earnie Langebartels. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 5, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lacona. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery in Lacona. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church, St. John Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Church in Knoxville or HCI Care Services of Knoxville.
