They were married on May 22, 1960 and blessed with four children: Kent, Brenda, Becky, and Bonnie. Edgar served in the United States Army from 1956 through 1958. He worked at Maytag, City Service in Des Moines, the South Central Co-op in Lacona, and worked at the VA in Knoxville retiring from there in 1995. He also farmed and raised hogs since 1973 while working at the VA. Edgar also sold Dekalb and McCubbin Seed over the years and enjoyed visiting with the farmers. He rarely missed coffee at the co-op in Lacona or Melcher, usually alternating days. He loved the farm and enjoyed riding the golf cart around his land the past year. He also enjoyed woodworking in his shop restoring furniture and building many things for his family. Playing cards was a regular past time he shared with his siblings usually playing solo or pitch and enjoyed horse shoes as well. His greatest joy in life was his family. He took the grandchildren to Adventureland every year, even this past summer. He always looked forward to the grandchildren's events and activities and was very grateful to have been blessed with such a wonderful family. He treasured his wife, children, and grandchildren more than anything. His Faith was strong; never missing Sunday worship and always giving thanks to God for his blessings.
