Ed Baumgarten

Ed Baumgarten, 52, passed away January 15, 2013. Services will be held Friday, January 18th at 10:30 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Milo. Family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Milo. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in care of the family. Online condolences may be left at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com. Edward Carl Baumgarten was born in Knoxville, Iowa on April 1, 1960 to Richard and Peggy (VanderLinden) Baumgarten. He was raised in Milo and graduated from Southeast Warren High School in 1978. Ed worked various jobs in construction over the years. Ed married Rosie Saltzman Seitzer on November 12, 1997. Ed loved being with family and friends and was known to be a jokester and a little bit ornery. He loved to tell stories and tease his nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed racing, playing cribbage and solo, barbecuing, and playing the keyboard. He also enjoyed the outdoors working in the garden and feeding the neighborhood squirrels. Ed passed away January 15, 2013 at the Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 52 years. Preceding Ed in death was his father, Richard 'Shorty' Baumgarten. Surviving are his mother, Peggy Baumgarten; his wife, Rosie Baumgarten; children: Jason McReynolds and Krystle McCabe; step children: Tamra Southard, Michael Seitzer, Scott Seitzer, and Mary Riley; and 9 step grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings: Randy Baumgarten, Marcia Roush, Michelle Page, and Melinda Schuette; along with many relatives and friends.
