Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Chariton Cemetery. A luncheon will be held following the burial at the funeral home. Memorials may be designated to his family. Earnest Eugene Roush was born September 18, 1947 to Ray and Marguerite (Pierce) Roush in Oskaloosa. They lived in Tracy until he was about 6 years old and then the family moved to the Chariton area. He attended Gettinger Country School in Lucas County and then Chariton High School before the family moved to Newton. He was married to Teena Miller in 1967 and was blessed with two children, Earnie and Teresa. Earnie worked at Maytag in Newton and enjoyed working as an Iron Worker in Des Moines before he went to Des Moines Asphalt. He drove a truck for them, often working 70-80 hours a week before retiring after 25 years. Earnie enjoyed deer hunting, raising calves, and spending time at home. Living on Highway 14, he could sit out and would always be happy to have people stop and visit. Family and friends would stop and he would throw a party, sometimes lasting 2 or 3 days. As you would leave and say good-bye, he would say, "I'll be here.", encouraging you to stop again. Earnie loved to hang out with his buddy Chicken Hawk. They would go out to eat at different places and travel all over the United States together. As he reflected on his life he would say, "I've lived my life, had fun, and wouldn't change a thing." Earnie is survived by his daughter, Teresa Roush; 3 grandchildren: Drake, Bryce, and Sunni; special nephew, Rodney Krutsinger; siblings: Marilyn Knox, Bobby (Carolyn) Roush, Judy (Roger) Krutsinger, Jerry Roush, Howard Roush, Katie Slycord, and Linda (Brad Mitchell) Osborn; his dog, George; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Earnie was preceded in death by his son, Little Earnie, in 1986, who was killed in a car accident at the age of 18; parents, Ray and Marguerite Roush; brother, Don Roush; and an infant sister.
