Dorothy Manley

Dorothy Mae Manley was born on February 27, 1923 to Robert and Wilma Miller of Melcher, Iowa. She married Forest 'Milton' Manley on November 30, 1939 and to this union four children were born. She and her husband lived on a farm east of Milo until 1967 and then moved into Milo. She worked for the Southeast Warren School District for 20 years as a cook. Dorothy was known for being an 'excellent' cook, her home made noodles and cinnamon rolls where incredible. She loved working in her flower gardens, crocheting, sewing, quilting, and crafts. She also loved watching the activities at the Milo 4th of July Celebration. Dorothy passed away September 17, 2012 at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center. She is survived by her children: Robert (Vicky) Manley of Urbandale, Richard (Marti) Manley of Altoona, and Roger (Susan) Manley of Milo; son-in-law Dale Headrick of Boone; brother, Bob (Mira) Miller of Des Moines; life long special friend, Erma Ohnemus; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton; daughter, Diane Headrick; daughter-in-law, Diana Manley; and brother Frances Miller.
