Donajene Tjelmeland

A Graveside Service for Donajene Tjelmeland, 83 of Chariton, will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Roland Cemetery in Roland, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of Donajene's family. Donajene was born to Melville and Fern (Briggs) Kent-Howe on August 26, 1932 in Lucas County, Iowa. She went to school in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School. Donajene was united in marriage to William M. Tjelmeland on September 15, 1952 while he was in the service. The couple adopted a child, Stephan Tjelmeland. Her son was her world. They lived in Story County, then Clarke County, eventually settling back in Lucas County. Donajene worked as a nursing assistant in all three counties. She worked at Story County Home for many years. Donajene had a soft spot for animals, especially kittens and dogs. She loved her Chihuahua, Baby. Donajene passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Deborah Tjelmeland; brother, Charles (Evelyn) Kent; sister-in-law, Bernice Strother; brothers-in-law, Vern (Chris) Tjelmeland and Dwayne Tjelmeland; 2 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Donajene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William M. Tjelmeland; son, Stephan Tjelmeland; father and mother-in-law, William Tjelmeland and Bertha (Aneinson) Tjelmeland; and brothers-in-law, Virgil, Talmer and Marion Tjelmeland. Service
