Memorials In Care of Dewight's Family. Dewight was born June 8, 1931, in rural Pleasantville, Iowa to Robert and Helen Clark Haug. He graduated from Melcher High School in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army in Germany during Korean Conflict. Dewight was married to Sandra Anderson December 16, 1955 in Melcher, Iowa. They were blessed with three daughters: Karla, Diana, and Robin. He retired after 31 years from Firestone Tire and Rubber and was a member of the United Rubber Workers of America Local 310. He also belonged to the Melcher Jaycees, and served multiple terms on the Melcher-Dallas City Council. Dewight enjoyed farming, woodworking, building construction, hunting, fishing, and spending specil times with his children and grandchildren. During the 1960's he and his brother Frank cleared farmland and built Hickory Ridge Campground near Red Rock Lake. Dewight passed away January 27, 2011 at the age of 79 years at the Pleasant Care Living Center in Pleasantville, Iowa. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Megan Dirks; and siblings: Don, Carl, Frank, and Beverly. Dewight is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra; daughters: Karla Fuell of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Diana (Dick) Schrader of Pleasantville, Iowa, and Robin (Rick) Dirks of Akron, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Elinor Rigel and Donnna Aldini; and many relatives and friends.
