Carlson Goetsch in Odebolt, Iowa. His family moved to Denison in 1942 and to a farm in Kiron in 1944. Dennis graduated from Kiron High School in 1950. After graduation, Dennis worked with Wallace's Farmer Print Shop, then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served from 1953 to 1957. During that time he was stationed in both Japan and California. He also played basketball for the Air Force. After returning home, Dennis worked with Sherwin Williams while he attended both Grandview College and Drake University where he earned a business degree. The biggest day in Dennis' life was June 22, 1958. On that day, Dennis married his best friend, Janice Quade. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Jodi and Julie. Dennis was a very loving and caring husband and father. He was a great family man and was always very good at showing his girls that they were loved. Dennis enjoyed watching Jodi and Julie play basketball while they were growing up. He cherished his memories of their family road trips all over the United States, especially those to California, Texas, and Minnesota. In 1963, Dennis started working for Skelly Oil as a territory representative covering southern Iowa, northern Missouri, and Western Illinois. He continued working for the company when their name changed to Getty, then to Texaco Oil. He retired from Texaco Oil in 1991. After retirement Dennis worked for Richard Oil Company in Humeston, Iowa. Dennis really enjoyed his retirement. He loved the beautiful view from his yard. He spent a lot of time working around the farm, planting trees, mowing, and picking up sticks. His hard work can be seen all over his beautiful acreage. Dennis looked forward to coffee time, his church family, Hawkeye and Detroit Tigers games, and fishing trips. Dennis and Janice also enjoyed dancing together in Humeston, Woodburn and in Chariton at the Soda Pop Saloon. Above all else, Dennis cherished time spent with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. Dennis passed away February 22, 2019. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 60 years, Janice Goetsch; daughters: Jodi (James) Draper, and Julie Goetsch; grandchildren: Anneliese Jackson and Quinn Jackson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Glenn and Esther Carlson Goetsch; siblings: Dale (Maxine) Goetsch, Darrell (Wilma) Goetsch, Dorothy (Ben) Heiney, and Donna (Gage) Swanson; and brother-in-law, James Albert Quade.
