Darrell Neer

Darrell Neer of Des Moines, formerly of Lacona, passed away March 15, 2016 at the age of 92. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lacona. Interment will follow at the Cochran Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Darrell's family. Darrell Dwaine Neer was born in Lacona, Iowa on October 11, 1923 to Glenn & Tina (Hendrickson) Neer. He attended Lacona Schools. Darrell was united in marriage to Darlene Wimmer in August of 1974. He was employed by Pittsburgh Steele for many years as a burner. Darrell was an outdoorsman who enjoyed camping and mowing his yard. He loved to take is grandchildren for rides on his mower. His eyes would light up when his grandchildren entered the room. Darrell always looked forward to summer vacations. Mostly, Darrell enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Darrell is survived by his wife, Darlene Neer of Des Moines, son, Frank Neer (Marie) of Des Moines, daughter, Kimberly Moreno (Felipe) of Des Moines, step-children: Dale Osborn of Attica, Iowa, Linda Lankford (Darold) of Melcher-Dallas, Eva Ryan of Knoxville, Faye Lovell (Robert) of Illinois, Dennis Jacobs (Eloise) of San Diego, California, 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, four siblings: Donna Branson (Ralph) of Melcher-Dallas, Mona Evans of Chariton, Shirley Donagen of Derby, Iowa, Ronald Neer (Patty) of Lacona and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings: June Freeman, Arlene Slack, Dean, Doyle, Marvin, Melvin and Don Neer. Cemetery Details Cochran Cemetery 230th Ave
