A Celebration of Life Gathering for Connie Banks will be held Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. A luncheon will follow services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Chariton. Connie Kay Callahan was born November 11, 1942 to Bert and Ruth (Burley) Callahan in California. Connie was one of three children born to the couple. She was raised in Whittier, California and graduated from Whittier Union High School. After high school graduation, Connie went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree. She worked for several years as a nonfoods buyer for grocery store chains. On June 17, 1967, Connie was united in marriage to Don Banks. The couple raised their family in California and moved to Chariton, Iowa in 1998. Connie started CBX, a trucking company. For the past few years, she enjoyed substitute teaching both English and Math courses at Simpson College. Connie was a vivacious person, and if you were lucky enough to have known her, you knew that she was the most generous person ever known. Connie loved all animals, especially horses, cows, chickens, and dogs. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, eating out, and traveling. She especially loved traveling to visit her cousins in both Missouri and Michigan. Connie passed away December 3, 2019 at the age of 77. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Don Banks; daughter, Courtney Banks; brother, Jim (Margaret) Callahan; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Connie was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kevin Banks; and infant sister, Patricia. Celebration of Life
