Clayel "C.D." Herron

December 21, 1922 — November 22, 2008

Memorials are requested to the Lacona United Methodist Church. Clayel was born in Little Falls, MN to Omer and Lois Herron on December 21, 1922. He attended country schools near Lacona. Clayel served in the US Marine Corps as a linesman during WWII and was stationed at Guadacanal and over seas for 27 months. After the service he came back to Lacona and opened a drug store; worked for Merrill Mosher; carried mail part time, and was the Mayor of Lacona. He was married to Mary Mosher on August 14, 1953. Clayel started working for John Deere in 1964 and retired in 1984. Clayel liked the farm and the cattle, he also enjoyed taking walks through the timber and going fishing. He loved to do anything and everything with his family including many days of fun on the pontoon boat. He is described as the best grandpa ever. Clayel truly loved his family. Clayel passed away November 22, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 2004; brothers: George, Wilbur, O.D., Glen; and sisters: Beverly Homer, and Elvalee Herron. He is survived by his children: Bobbie (Jerry) Phillips, Kay (Rex) Brown, and Sue (Wes) Fouche; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren; siblings: Lois (Paul) Enstrum, Herb (Barb) Herron, Dude (Grace) Herron, John (Joyce) Herron, and Dorothy Hicks.
