She was raised in Indianola and attended school there graduating Indianola High School in 1957. She loved to drive and while cruising around in her Dad's '56 Oldsmobile she met a young man named Jay Mosher. A few short months later on November 28, 1957 they were married and blessed with five children: Jayne, Janna, Jeanet, Joel, and Jon. Charlotte started working at the age of 14 at Reed's Ice Cream Store; she shared many fond memories of working there. Her first job out of high school was at Solar Aircraft and then went to State Federal Savings and Loan where she worked for 19 years. After her last child was born, she thought she would give a try to being a stay at home mom. After about two years, she decided it was time to go back to the city to work. She worked at Blue Cross & Blue Shield and a few law firms before she finished her career with the State of Iowa in the Fiscal Bureau. After retiring she didn't want to stop working and was able to continue working at the State Capital clerking for some of the State Representatives during session. Charlotte enjoyed working, being independent, organizing and working on the books. It was very hard for Charlotte to give up her car, her trips to Des Moines and to work. All through her life Charlotte and Jay were active in the Motor Friends Church. Before they had children, they began giving to the church by being Youth Leaders. She continued being very active in her church at local, state, and regional levels. And always putting her good organizing skills to work she was a leader at the church and was the recording clerk for the Iowa Yearly Meeting for many years. Charlotte again contributed to the church by playing the organ for many Sunday Services. She was active in her community supporting many local causes and groups including being on the Milo Public Library Board for several years. All through her life she loved to support and encourage kids to do well. Charlotte was a 4-H leader for the Belmont Peppers Club for 50 years and was inducted into the State 4-H Hall of Fame in 2010 for her many contributions. She was a judge for many counties and state fair level as well. Another organization that she belonged to and that she enjoyed with her friends was the Red Hatters Club. Her greatest love and joy was her family. Charlotte and Jay were married for 63 years and they were not only blessed with 5 children; but also blessed with 5 wonderful families that have grown to 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Charlotte has enjoyed teaching her daughters and granddaughters to sew and quilt, and by doing that has taught them patience and that perfection is an attainable goal. She loved attending all the activities her children and grandchildren were in and especially enjoyed the sporting events. Although many times you would find her sitting by herself, because she was very protective of her family and did not approve of the fouls called by the referee (She was quite vocal). She loved all family and being together for Holidays and special times. Charlotte passed away November 30, 2020 at the age of 81 surrounded by family. Preceding her in death were her parents: Orlo and Mary Thompson; and a brother-in-law, Dennis Phipps. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Jay Mosher; children: Jayne (Mark) Sherwood, Janna (Mark) Putz, Jeanet (Scott) Crowell, Joel (Beth) Mosher, and Jon (Karen) Mosher; 16 grandchildren: Kara (Dave), Corey (Danielle), Kelli (Caleb), Kaci, Kylie, Jenny (Javier), Jessica (Andrew), Jason, Michelle (Jacob), Jerett, Grant, Gracie, Cassandra, Joshua (Jennifer), Zachary, and Jacob; and 6 great grandchildren: Lexi, Cael, Carsen, Josie, Nora, and Elijah. Along with siblings: Dorothy Phipps, Robert Thompson, and Ron (Brenda) Thompson; many nieces, and nephews, relatives, and friends. Cemetery Details Motor Cemetery 14350 240th Avenue
