Caroline Rebecca (Dietz) Irving, 86, passed away on Thursday, December 27th at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital. Services will be Monday, December 31st, at 11:00 a.m. at the Columbia United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Columbia Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the Columbia United Methodist Church. She was born to Jake and Mary Dietz in Fort Collins, Colorado on November 11, 1926. The family moved to Wheatland, Wyoming in 1927. She graduated from Wheatland High School in 1945. She was raised on the family farm; being the oldest she took on lots of the responsibilities. These included milking cows, working beet fields, and putting up hay. Caroline married John Irving September 17, 1946 in Wheatland. They made their home in Columbia and were blessed with a son, Cole in 1952. Caroline cleaned homes, worked at the Columbia Store, and babysat for her two grandsons. She enjoyed gardening, church choir, trips to Wyoming, cooking, and crocheting. Her passion was mailing cards for special occasions to all her family and friends. She also gave to a variety of charities. Preceding in her death were here parents; son, Cole Irving; and siblings:William Dietz and Melvin Dietz. Caroline passed away December 27, 2012. She is survived by her husband, John; grandsons: Chad (Michelle) Irving, Luke (Heather) Irving; daughter-in-law, Julie (Ron) Rees; great grandchildren: Carson, Natalie, and Carter; siblings: Arnie Dietz, Leonard Dietz, Mary Anne Kern, and Helen Steeley, and many other relatives and friends.
